10 Game-changing Tips to Boost Your Creative Brand Online

Hey, creative genius.

Let’s get straight to it, having talent isn’t always enough to get noticed online. You could be creating the most beautiful products, pouring your heart into every design, and still feel like you’re shouting into the void. Sound familiar?

Whether you’re just starting out or you’ve been building your brand for a while, the online world can feel overwhelming. There’s always one more thing to post, learn, or try. But before you throw your hands up and blame the algorithm, hear this: visibility is not just about doing more—it’s about doing the right things.

So, if you’re wondering why your work isn’t getting the attention it deserves, you might just be missing a few key moves.

Let’s walk through 10 things you need to start doing (or start doing better) to finally grow your online presence, with purpose.

1. Get Clear on Your Brand Identity

Your brand is more than a logo, it’s your vibe, your values, your visual style, and your voice. If your content looks different every week, or your messaging isn’t consistent, it’s hard for people to trust or remember you.

Why it matters: Clarity builds connection. Consistency builds trust.

What to do: Define your colours, logo, tone of voice, and core message. Use tools like Canva or Notion to create a simple brand kit you can refer to when creating content.

2. Stop Hiding Behind the Product; Tell Your Story

Products attract attention. But stories make people stick around.

Why it matters: People love to know the face and meaning behind the brand. That’s what turns followers into fans and fans into customers.

What to do: Share behind-the-scenes moments. Talk about why you started, what inspires your work, and the process that goes into each piece. It makes you relatable, not just transactional.

3. Know Exactly Who You’re Talking To

Trying to speak to “everyone” means you end up connecting with no one.

Why it matters: The clearer you are about your target audience, the easier it is to create content that actually speaks to them.

What to do: Create a customer persona. Think about their age, lifestyle, pain points, and what they love. Tailor your posts, language, and offers to match their world.

4. Create with Consistency

You can’t build visibility if you show up once a month and vanish. The internet rewards consistency.

Why it matters: People need multiple touchpoints with your brand before they buy. Posting regularly keeps you top-of-mind.

What to do: Choose a posting schedule you can actually maintain. It could be 3 times a week or twice a week. Use scheduling tools to help you stay consistent even when life gets busy.

5. Use Video—Even If It’s Imperfect

You don’t need a perfect setup to start using video. Just start.

Video content is the most engaging format right now. It increases reach, engagement, and conversion. Start with what you have. Use your phone to film how you make your product, quick tips, or your daily routine. Short, authentic videos work best, especially on Instagram Reels and TikTok.

6. Get Serious About SEO

No, SEO isn’t just for bloggers. It’s how people find you online without you having to chase them down.

Search engines like Google and Pinterest can bring you organic (free!) traffic when you use the right keywords. Add keywords to your website, product descriptions, blog titles, image alt texts, and captions. Use long-tail keywords like “handmade African jewellery” or “eco-friendly fashion accessories for women”. You can also collaborate with top bloggers in your niche. Bellafricana is currently offering a spotlight feature to creatives who are looking to boost their online presence and gain more visibility online. Click here to get started.

7. Grow and Nurture Your Email List

Your followers might scroll past your posts, but email gets personal. Email is a direct line to your audience, and it converts better than social media. Use tools like Mailchimp or Flodesk. Offer something valuable in return for sign-ups, a discount, a style guide, or early access to collections. Then send weekly or biweekly updates.

8. Collaborate with Other Creatives or Communities

You don’t have to grow alone. Partnerships can multiply your reach. Tapping into someone else’s audience exposes your brand to new people who already trust the person introducing you. Join giveaways, do live chats, co-create products, or pitch your work to platforms like Bellafricana. Community is your secret weapon.

9. Let Data Drive Your Content Decisions

If you’re not checking your analytics, you’re creating blindfolded. Your insights show you what’s working and what’s wasting your time. Track metrics like reach, engagement, saves, and clicks. Focus on content that performs well and improve what doesn’t. Tools like Instagram Insights, Facebook Creator Studio, and Google Analytics are your friends.

10. Invest in Visibility Support When You Need It

Sometimes, the next level of growth comes when you let someone help you get there. Exposure matters. The right platform can put your work in front of people who are already looking for what you offer. Platforms like Bellafricana exist to help creatives like you shine. We offer promotional packages, spotlights, blog features, and more to boost your visibility without the overwhelm. Click here to get started.

Final Thoughts

If there’s one thing you should take away from this, it’s that visibility isn’t optional. It’s the bridge between your creative brilliance and the people who need to see it. Whether you’re just getting started or trying to scale, implementing these steps consistently will set your brand apart and move you closer to your goals.

Tunde Onakoya: Moving Africa Forward Through Chess

When Craft Becomes a Legacy

In the spirit of celebrating Africans whose impact transcends their craft or business, Bellafricana proudly celebrates Tunde Onakoya: a visionary whose impact extends beyond the 64 squares of a chessboard. Tunde’s story isn’t just one of personal triumph; it’s a powerful narrative of using skill, resilience, and compassion to rewrite the future for hundreds of children across Africa.

Tunde Onakoya with Children in Slums

From Ikorodu to the World

Tunde’s story begins in Ikorodu, Lagos, not even in a classroom or a well-lit office, but in a humble barbershop where he first encountered the game of chess. What started as a spark of curiosity soon turned into a lifelong mission: to unlock potential where the world only saw poverty.

Armed with his love for the game and a heart for service, Tunde founded Chess in Slums Africa. This was an initiative that teaches chess to children in underserved communities while also helping them access education, mentorship, and life-changing opportunities.

But this is more than just about teaching kids to play a game. It’s about helping them see themselves differently as thinkers, strategists, and leaders. It’s about rewriting the script that says, “Because you’re from the slums, your dreams don’t matter.”

Tunde Onakoya perfectly embodies the essence of #BeyondTheCraft. His mission transcends his personal expertise in chess; it’s about legacy, impact, and the reimagination of African potential. Through strategic thinking, storytelling, and relentless service, he has turned a simple game into a global instrument of change.

Making Global Moves

Tunde’s impact has gone far beyond the slums of Lagos. In April 2024, he took to Times Square in New York City, where he played chess for 60 hours nonstop, not for personal glory, but to raise $1 million for children’s education across Africa.

And just recently, in 2025, he took the message even further, delivering a keynote address at the United Nations Headquarters, sharing his story and the possibilities that lie in investing in Africa’s future through its children.

From street corners to global stages, Tunde has shown that a simple idea, when driven by purpose, can ripple across continents.

Why Tunde Onakoya is Beyond the Craft

At first glance, chess may seem far removed from the creative industries we highlight at Bellafricana. But that’s exactly why this spotlight matters.

Tunde represents everything Beyond the Craft stands for: turning passion into purpose, skill into social impact, and vision into legacy. He has taken what he knows and built something that transforms lives, challenges stereotypes, and champions Africa in rooms where our voices aren’t always heard.

He reminds us that creativity isn’t just what we make with our hands; it’s what we build with our hearts.

The Bigger Picture

Beyond the Craft is about more than recognition. It’s about reminding ourselves and the world that Africa’s greatness lies in its people. The ones who see possibilities where others see problems. The ones who use their platform, whatever it may be, to lift others as they rise.

Tunde Onakoya is doing just that, and we’re proud to celebrate him, not just for what he’s done, but for what he represents: the power of vision, purpose, and unwavering belief in the next generation.

At Bellafricana, Beyond the Craft is our way of honouring Africans like Tunde, whose work has created ripple effects far beyond their immediate industry. He is not just a chess master; he is a master of change, reshaping narratives, breaking boundaries, and inspiring a generation to dream bigger.

Bellafricana Christmas Marketplace With Salesforce

Bellafricana Christmas Marketplace With Salesforce

Bellafricana partnered with Salesforce to host a special Christmas marketplace at the Salesforce HQ in London, UK. This Bellafricana Christmas Marketplace With Salesforce marked Bellafricana’s second partnership with Salesforce after our first in October to celebrate Black History month.

Salesforce is a global leader in customer relationship management (CRM) and has been a strong advocate for black-owned small businesses and independent African creatives. Beyond providing technology solutions, they actively create opportunities for small businesses to reach wider audiences and grow. This collaboration with Bellafricana is part of Salesforce’s ongoing efforts to support diversity and inclusion by helping African entrepreneurs showcase their talents on a global stage.

Salesforce has been a great ally in helping our members reach a global audience, and this collaboration has further highlighted their commitment to supporting small businesses and African creatives.

A Growing Partnership With Salesforce

Our partnership with Salesforce began in October, when we worked together to celebrate Black History Month. That first collaboration gave African creatives a platform to share their stories, connect with global audiences, and showcase their unique talents. Building on that success, this Christmas marketplace was another incredible opportunity to spotlight our community and celebrate African innovation.
