Guest Speaker: Mrs Toki Mabogunje, CEO of Toki Mabogunje and Co. (TMC). She is also the Vice-president of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry and currently serves as the Chairperson of the Board of the Business Education Services and Training Unit of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Council Member Business Club Ikeja; former Vice-President South West NASME amongst others.
A business consultant interested in the growth and management of small and medium enterprise on the African continent. Over the last 32 years, Toki has been involved in commercial and business enterprise from both a public and private sector perspective.
Toki moved from the public to the private sector. This provided her with the opportunity to attain a well-rounded perspective of business enterprise in the Nigerian, African and Global business environment. She worked as Group Head Legal and Corporate Affairs for a start up broadcast enterprise, which grew into a global business concern. Toki was part of a dynamic management team that grew this local broadcaster into a satellite television operation. Toki’s experience with this start up operation extended to other markets within Africa, Europe and the United States.
Her management expertise and skills earned her the position of CEO of the American subsidiary of the Group. Toki founded the firm Toki Mabogunje and Co. (TMC) in the year 2000 and over the last fifteen years brings her skills, training, expertise and experience to bear when consulting with clients seeking to grow their market share in Nigeria, Africa or elsewhere globally.

Mrs Toki Mabogunje is a business consultant interested in the growth and management of small and medium enterprise on the African continent. As a business consultant, Toki has particular interest in business development, value chain development, project financing, strategic organization and management and the provision of legal and business advisory services to small and medium enterprises.
Mrs Toki Mabogunje has a degree in Law from the University of Ife, Nigeria, a postgraduate law degree (LLM) in International Business Law from the University of Exeter, England, Executive Management Training in Strategic Organization and Management from Stanford University Graduate School of Business, California, United States of America, training in SME Policy Design and Project Implementation from the ILO Training Center in Turin, Italy, Value Chain Development Training from MDF in the Netherlands, Enterprise Development through value chains and business service markets from the ILO International Training Center, Turin, Italy and several other workshops and seminars all related to the growth and development of SMEs.
Over the last 32 years, Toki has been involved in commercial and business enterprise from both a public and private sector perspective. As Assistant Legal Adviser to the Ministry of Defence and later Senior State Counsel in the Mercantile and Industrial Law Department of the Federal Ministry of Justice, Nigeria, Toki was involved in public sector policy formulation, regulation and monitoring of commerce and industry nationwide. Toki provided legal advise to the Federal Government in its cross border business negotiations with other governments and commercial enterprises worldwide.

Toki is active in business organizations of the organized private sector in Nigeria. She is a Vice-president of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry and currently serves as the Chairperson of the Board of the Business Education Services and Training Unit of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Council Member Business Club Ikeja; former Vice-President South West NASME amongst others. In her spare time she expresses her creativity by writing poetry. She has a number of poetry publications and this led to her co-authoring an anthology of poetry with her son in the year 2009 which is titled THE DUET now available on-line at Amazon.com and in bookstores such as quintessence and terra culture in Lagos. The DUET was performed on stage in 2011 and 2013. In recognition of her support of the literary arts the National Association of Nigerian Theatre Practitioners awarded her the WTD (World Theatre Day) Personality of the year and Cultural Ambassador 2014.
Toki has great passion for impacting positively on society and the communities she serves. In recognition of her contributions, various associations have bestowed Toki with various awards. Amongst these have been the award by Volunteer corps in 2008, the volunteer of the year award by Fate Foundation in 2007, subsequent induction into the Fate Foundation hall of fame, and the outstanding volunteer award for 10 years of dedicated service in 2010 by Fate Foundation. She mentors young women and has done so with Women in Successful Careers (WISCAR), Idea Builders for which she won the mentor of the year award 2009 in the WOMEN MENTORING WOMEN programme run by Idea Builders and Vital Voices of America, as well as an Achievement award by the Ghana Association of Women Entrepreneurs (GAWE) in 2009 for breaking the glass ceiling. Toki has been a panelist and mentor on the Federal Government of Nigeria YouWin programme. She is married to an Electronic Engineer, Mr. Seun Mabogunje and they have two grown sons.
