The Bellafricana Verified Tribe | Banke Fasominu

When a peaceful protest creates a pause that extends longer that you anticipate and boredom starts creeping in, you either get frustrated or get creative. Getting creative is undoubtedly a more profitable choice, and one Banke Fasominu made during a strike that resulted from a peaceful protest during her college years. This decision is what I believe marked the birth of her super innovative brand “Oludidit”.

Oludidit is a mix of Yoruba and English language meaning “God did it.
Oludidit is a creative enterprise that thrives on creative invention; transforming imaginations into tangible products in the arts and crafts industry. Their products range from a variety of interior decor accessories to crafts, and stationeries with a rich blend of African and western elements.
Driven by a desire to constantly create unique pieces with style and excellence, Oludidit has gradually become a hub for the craft loving population who seek the originality of handcrafted, custom designed products both within Nigeria and abroad.
Banke is a crafter, graphic artist, teacher, speaker and a budding writer. Having acquired design and business education from the Maven Institute of interior decor and design as well as the Pan Atlantic University’s Enterprise development Centre respectively, she still constantly seeks opportunities for continuous education. Her passion lies in transforming the everyday things into beautiful masterpieces.

Throwback to 2016 in an interview with Maryam Olafuyi of maytermorphorsis.com, Banke was asked what her advice to budding creative entrepreneurs would be, she said and I quote ”
Seek God while you have breath in you and do it intentionally. There’s a whole world of difference between an ordinary life and the one with the “extra” topping. If you’ve always cooked a pot of stew without salt, the day someone gives you salt, you’ll know there’s a difference. Yes, you can be young, beautiful, insanely intelligent, enterprising and be saved. Decide to actually live. Live in the now! Be happy. Enjoy life. I particularly love how Ecc 5:18-20 MSG puts it. “After looking at the way things are on this earth, here’s what I’ve decided is the best way to live: Take care of yourself, have a good time, and make the most of whatever job you have for as long as God gives you life”. And that’s about it. That’s the human lot. Yes, we should make the most of what God gives, both the bounty and the capacity to enjoy it, accepting what’s given and delighting in the work. It’s God’s gift! God deals out joy in the present, the now. It’s useless to brood over how long we might live.”

And finally, if there’s any skill you’re really  good at and you love doing, you owe it to yourself and to God to pursue it with all your might. It’s easy for those around you who may not understand like you do to try to talk you out of it, but practice deafness. Let your success shut them up. It may be hard initially but find better ways of doing your work and continue”

These words are priceless, and still very much valid till date, that I would recommend to anyone seeking advice.  You can connect with Banke  and shop some of her amazing pieces on Instagram @oludidit
