Having received awards including the FLAGSTAR Award by the Art Critic and Reviews Association of Ghana and the distinguished alumni award from the African-American Institute in New York, Ablade Glover is considered an acclaimed educator who has made an enormous contribution to art worldwide.
The meticulous technique he uses involves applying rich brightly coloured oil paint with a spatula, to create texture and strong dynamism. Vivid urban landscapes are the subjects of most of his work, particularly crowded people and buildings. To a large extent the works of Ablade Glover are straightforward, unelaborate and unpretentious. Bold, captivating colours capture the viewer and keep it. One cannot deny that the beauty of his work lies in the intricacy of the paint application and the delightful colour palette. He has also dabbled into painting women. These paintings burst with vibrant colours and usually feature the women in motion or standing. One thing is for certain: Ablade Glover is definitely a master of contemporary modern African Art.
