Best Natural Hair Products for Natural Girls
Most natural hair girls aka naturalistas, especially the sistas (hehe…) with stubborn and brittle 4C type hair, know that the simple act of running a comb through it is a proper STRUGGLE!
I hear the permed ladies whisper “so why do you put yourselves through the stress of 2 strand twists, bantu knots, silk scarves, breaking combs etc. Why don’t you just save yourselves undue pressure and relax those curls huh?”
It’s really not as simple as that. Texturizers, relaxers etc can be great, it’s all relative. I won’t knock them down because they pretty much make life easier for all those involved. But when you have literally connected with your roots, it is kinda hard to go back.
Natural hair is like planting a seed. You water it everyday, put it in the right shade and watch it germinate. Just because you have to go out to monitor it constantly and consistently doesn’t make you decide to uproot and chuck it all of a sudden.
It is a bit tedious to maintain natural hair, I will admit. But once you get a hang of the regimen and routine that works for you, its really easy to just let it ‘fro… sorry, grow 🙂
You become aware of the health and wealth your hair has gained, you are in sync with your curls and you know the perks of taking great care of your natural hair.
It may sound slightly unbelievable but my natural hair, unlike most is very obedient. As long as she is well taken care of, given max attention, watered and fed she does absolutely anything I ask of her.
Natural hair is like a needy high class girlfriend. With the right attention, she will submit to you but you have to treat her right and she doesn’t come cheap.
Based on the topsy-turvy nature of the dollar rates, buying natural hair products has become something to seriously think about.
Do I really want to buy an exported teeny-weeny jar of castor oil for N9,500? Imagine needing to buy 5 other products within the same price range?
Nah boo! Not me.
Natural hair is an investment and up until last year, oh I invested. Foreign brands were just “chopping” my money literally and figuratively, but I’ve learned.
This is essentially why Bellafricana exists. To source for and bring you QUALITY and affordable made in Nigeria products you can trust.
When people hear “made in Nigeria” they automatically think Ankara bags and anything else that can be Ankara-fied. Well, the joke is on you *tongue out*
Every natural hair product I have used in the past 11 months has been 100% Nigerian made and I must say I have had no regrets. My hair is long, always moisturized, and shiny with 0 breakages. Which takes me back to what I said earlier about my hair being obedient. It didn’t happen overnight.
Here are my best Made in Nigeria natural hair products and Yas! They are ALL Bellafricana verified.
- NATURAL NIGERIAN
From tea tree oil, to jojoba, eucalyptus and castor oil, Natural Nigerian has a variety of essential oils every naturalista needs for hot oil treatment and moisturizing.
2) NAMASTE ORGANICS
My go to leave-in conditioner made with avocado and coconut oil is from Namaste Organics. They smell absolutely divine. They also stock hair growth elixir with aloevera (which works, just ask my edges) and conditioning loc butter to keep your twist outs in place.
3) MIDAS NATURALS
I am in love with soothing fragrances and Midas Naturals offers a wide range of great smelling natural products for hair and skin care. The Kiwi leave in conditioner softens my hair and allows for easy combing. Love it!
4) INNER BEAUTEE
Shea butter and coconut oil are an essential part of every natural girls daily routine. As with all the good ones, the Inner Beautee whipped shea butter locks in moisture and promotes growth and softness, plus it doesn’t have the “unprocessed” smell that most people dread in Ori.
5) AWENI ORGANICS
Aweni Organics has provided we naturalistas (and permed girls too) the deep moisturizing shea butter oil that can be used to condition hair. It is highly recommended for those of us who don’t really like to deal with the “rubbing in” of solid shea butter.
6) BEAUTIFULLY NAPPY (Organics Life Plus)
Teachers aren’t supposed to have favorites, but the organic argan oil from Beautifully Nappy promotes hair growth, acts as a moisturizer and can also be used for the skin. It got rid of my daughters dandruff in 3 days.
All these products are proudly packaged in Nigeria and are safe to use for children because they contain NO chemicals, so get to shopping.
