BBC’s 100 Women List 2016: Funke Bucknor Obruthe And Omotade Alalade Makes List

[dropcap custom_class=”normal”] Funke Bucknor Obruthe and Omotade Alalade made history on Monday, 21st of November 2016 as they made The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC)’s list of inspirational and influential women for 2016.
100 women from different walks of life and different origin were listed in BBC’s 100 Women 2016 list. This is the corporation’s way of celebrating the works of inspirational and influential women from across the world…. [/dropcap]

Out of 100 women, 16 of them are Africans and 2 are Nigerians, Funke Bucknor Obruthe and Omotade Alalade. This is a thing to be celebrated as Nigerians/Africans do not usually get global recognition for their good works.
It is exceptional to note also, that Funke Bucknor Obruthe is the second in the Business category. She is a wedding planner who is impressively apt in her business dealings. She says;

What inspires me is the need to see those around me succeed, pulling the next human being up, and not accepting failure as an option.

The works of Omotade Alalade are one of the rarest and life impacting, hence her being rightly categorised under the Pioneer category in the BBC 100 Women 2016 list. She is the founder of an infertility foundation called “BeiBei Haven Foundation“.
Omotade Alalade’s foundation is focused on helping those who struggle with infertility. It is quite impressive that this initiative of her is growing globally. She says;

Support and knowledge go a long way in helping women deal with infertility and baby loss.

Listed among the 100 Women are also international celebrities such as Alicia Keys and Simone Biles.
Being in its fourth year, Fiona Crack, the editor of 100 Women, said that the BBC was proud of the platform it has given many inspirational women, “to highlight the challenges, opportunities and experiences of women across the world”.
