[dropcap custom_class=”normal”]Hey Momma! Good morning! Did you sleep well? Wow! I have to say that the feedback from WEEK 1 has been amazing and so encouraging, thank you! Welcome to Week 2 of our course, today we are going to look at some of the challenges I faced as a HAIR CARE MUM and how I overcame them. Let’s go!…[/dropcap]
Now I know you may look at my daughter’s hair on Instagram and think, well I have everything figured out. Well that may not entirely be true because I do have my struggles with caring for my own daughter’s hair.
Let’s back up a few months prior to having my baby, I was terrified and clueless. I mean don’t get me wrong, I was already natural and knew a thing or two about natural hair. However I didn’t know anything about how to care for a baby’s hair, I didn’t even know what products would be suitable for a new born.
I searched the internet for answers, but I found very little information that still left me in the dark. Most of the information I found was very elaborate on how to care for baby hair from other races but not my future African Baby Girl!
Even though I got vital information from two major African moms, such as Nadine of Girls Love Your Curls and Discovering Natural, when I had my daughter, I still knew I needed something specific for my own baby as some of the products they recommended were not necessarily working for her hair texture.
Then I decided enough was enough and I had to start trying out different things that I felt were safe and suitable for my baby’s hair care. One thing I had to get rid of was her baby conditioner, it was a brand that wasn’t really giving me the results I was looking for.
Guess what? One of the major changes I made was to take one other conditioner brand I had for kids, which was originally made to be used as a rinse out conditioner, and started using as a leave in too. This worked so well on my baby’s hair, who knew, right?!
After a few other trials and errors, I was able to create a system that worked for me and my baby. The system consisted of a very simple hair care regimen and products that are perfect for her hair texture. Now even in my sleep, I can pick the products that will work well on my baby’s hair and doing her hair is a breeze, I am never stressed out about wash days or daily hair routine.
So friend, I want you to know that you too can master the art of caring for your child’s hair, trust me, it is not rocket science and if I can do it, so can you. You do not even have to spend all the money and time I spent figuring things out on my own with no help, I am here to guide you.
I also want you to know that, no matter how bad your child’s hair is now, it can grow and flourish into beautiful luscious, healthy afro hair.
Now, what I would like you to do is to comment with all the problem areas your child’s hair has now and take a picture of her hair and them to me via Instagram @munaandluchi.
I have also written An eBook titled “Hair Care Regimen for Baby”, to get this book, you can send an email to [email protected]
See you next week 🙂
