She asked a question, so why MSMEs, and why not just focus on Medium to Large Enterprises. My response, why not MSMEs? Did you know that MSMEs are major economic growth drivers? [/dropcap]
Without having to say much, just so you know the challenges MSMEs are facing are not just in Africa, Jyoti Prakash Gadia, Managing Director of Resurgent India Limited, in India, had some major highlights on why MSMEs Face Issues and Challenges.
- Limited understanding of new age marketing strategies cripples MSMEs.
- Limited access to market intelligence and marketing tools such as packaging, labelling, brand building, advertisement, etc. limits the survival / growth prospects of MSMEs.
- Lack of sufficient selling outlets and adequate infrastructure is a key concern disrupting marketing of MSME products to the remote parts of the country.
Jyoti hit home with the highlights above without a doubt, these are major struggles MSMEs face. Asides these facts, I will also add that MSMEs in Nigeria have peculiar challenges in addition to the above.
Challenges such as access to finance, power, infrastructure, poor value chain and so much more.
You really don’t need to have been born 2 generations ago to understand that whatever is happening in the Nigerian Economy today is a generational thing.
I don’t really believe a “Made-in-Nigeria Campaign” for a moment will resolve the current situation, but I do believe “Made-in-Nigeria” should be a way of life.
Some are bothered about what should have been done, some about what could be done, but I am more interested in what will be done and what you can do!
Question: How do you expect to save a dying tree by giving medicine to the leaves?
My answer: The root of the tree might make more sense to heal.
